Try propping down to a 9X6 and see what happens, if it is still getting hot either get some air to it or get another motor cause a 9X6 should not pull even close to watts on 3S at KV. Not much i can really add here apart from what you already know,which is if you are going to get the best out of your set ups you really do need a watt meter,once you have it you will wonder how you ever got buy with out it,trust us on that. Sounds like the motor doesn’t have the greatest airflow around it but perhaps there’s nothing that can be done about that. If it’s a swoopy plane that you really want to cook, try a smaller diameter prop and keep the pitch up high like an 8×8. If it’s a draggy airframe and you like a lot of vertical punch, stick with larger props and less pitch like a 9×6 or so.

Is there an alternative you guys suggest? In your case, a nhm may not help you because of the airflow around the motor. You just might have to prop down until the motor is cool or warm enough to live.

An 8×6 should keep the motor under or near 50A on 4S, that’s already W!! I guess I should have posted this here. Something is not quite right with that. Unfortunately, I dont have access to a watt meter, to see whats happening here. What would a good alternative be Eco setup?
